Dear T-on-Time user,

I developed and launched the T-on-Time app for commuter rail riders in 2009. Since then, T-on-Time has over 12,000 active users and 3,000 visitors per day.

Today, I am going to retire the app.

There are a few reasons for this. Between MBTA schedule changes (like this morning) and cross-platform mobile development in general in the last 5 years, the app requires a major rewrite every year or so just to keep current - unfortunately I am unable to prioritize this work over my career and family life.

In addition:

  1. The small fees I’ve charged don’t cover the costs of hosting and maintaining the app.
  2. There are other apps which are (almost) as good. :)
  3. I recommend Eric Hynds Rail Tracker App.

Thank you for all your kind words and support in these 6 years. It’s been a “great ride”.

Biggest day ever at 685 IOS downloads. We'll hit 10K active users in a few days. Thanks for getting the word out! pic.twitter.com/Cj8Sr9s5mJ

App installs always spike in winter. But compare this year to others... pic.twitter.com/HwYEXVVa3I
